Representatives of the Diplomatic Security Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection visited Varna to meet with their Bulgarian counterparts to exchange information and experience, reports BGNES.

Regarding the increased law enforcement cooperation in the Black Sea region, Embassy Sofia Chargé d’Affaires Martin McDowell stated that the United States and Bulgaria are significantly expanding their cooperation in the fields of law enforcement and border security.

In 2025, the enhanced coordination helped uncover large-scale drug trafficking networks, identify numerous known or suspected terrorists, prevent dangerous cyberattacks and conduct advanced joint investigations, said Regional Security Officer Keith Easter.
