Minister of Social Affairs is against raising taxes in 2026

I do not think that any taxes should be raised, Minister of Social Affairs Borislav Gutsanov has told BNT.

“The situation of people is already difficult enough without an additional burden on the family budget,” the Minister said, answering a question about the state budget in 2026 and the recommended increase in taxes and social security contributions.

If such reforms are made, they must be very well thought out, Gutsanov pointed out. "A tax increase entails many other actions that must be carried out, so I do not believe that this is currently on the agenda, at least this is my opinion as Minister of Social Affairs," Gutsanov added.
