Two-thirds of adult Bulgarians are overweight

A roundtable discussion on the need for a national program to combat obesity will be held today in the National Assembly. 

An expert report on the topic "The (Un)Beatable Pandemics - Obesity" states that Bulgaria is in 5th place in Europe in obesity among children and 6th among adults

Among the participants in the forum are the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova, the Chairman of the Health Committee Kostadin Angelov, the Chairman of the European Association for the Study of Obesity Prof. Volkan Yumuk, and others.

About two-thirds of adult Bulgarians are overweight or obese, Prof. Teodora Durlenska, Chairman of the Bulgarian Association for the Study of Obesity and its Associated Diseases, told the Bulgarian National Radio. She is part of the team of specialists who recommend the preparation of a National Program to Combat Obesity, reporter Elena Beykova reported.
