Hapoel Tel Aviv defeats Barcelona in EuroLeague opener in Sofia

The basketball team of Barcelona visited Bulgaria for the first time for their game against the team of Hapoel Tel Aviv, which chose Bulgaria as its home venue for this season’s EuroLeague. The symbolic hosts claimed a 103–87 victory (26:26, 25:19, 31:25, 21:17). Antonio Blakeney was the top scorer for Hapoel with 20 points, while Vasilije Micić and Danial Oturu each contributed 18 points. Will Clyburn was Barcelona’s top scorer with 23 points.

The game was played at Arena 8888 in front of more than 8,100 spectators. Lyubomir Ganev, President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, was greeted with loud applause. Hapoel Tel Aviv’s next home game in Sofia is scheduled for October 8 against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
