The European Commission has brought legal action against Bulgaria at the European Court of Justice (ECJ), arguing that the country has not fully transposed EU rules on the posting of drivers into national law and calling for financial penalties, BNR correspondent Angelina Piskova reported from Brussels.
The directive sets rules for the posting of drivers in the road transport sector, which are essential for ensuring their social protection and improving working conditions, the Commission said. One consequence of the delayed transposition is that drivers face difficulties in receiving fair remuneration.
The Commission also issued a reasoned opinion to Bulgaria, calling for the directive on combating the sexual abuse and exploitation of children, as well as child pornography, to be properly transposed. Two other formal notices were also sent. One relates to the incorrect transposition of the EU Firearms Directive and the other to a missing report on the implementation of a provision from the EU Electricity Market Directive.
