The “Green Wave – 21st Century” Festival in Kardzhali offers training in disaster situations

The European Environmental Festival “Green Wave – 21st Century” is returning to Bulgaria's town of Kardzhali with practical training, screenings and discussions, informs Radio Kardzhali of the Bulgarian National Radio. The aim of the event, which will be held on October 9 and 10, is to increase people’s readiness to react to real critical situations such as fires, floods, terrorist threats and pandemics.

Students and teachers from local schools will participate in the festival this year as well, who will be trained through demonstrations and training. Citizens will have free access to educational films and demonstrations that will help them acquire practical skills to protect their lives and health in disasters and accidents.


Documentaries by Bulgarian and European institutions and media dedicated to environmental protection, sustainable development and climate change action will also be screened within the framework of the festival.

The organizers of the event are the European Ecological Festival Foundation and the Municipality of Kardzhali with the participation of structures from the Ministry of Interior, the fire department, the emergency services, the Bulgarian Red Cross, experts and volunteers.
