The 42nd edition of the Wizz Air Sofia Marathon 2025, Bulgaria’s largest athletics event, will take place on 11–12 October, with the capital’s streets set to host thousands of runners.

Organisers have reported a record level of interest this year, with over 8,000 runners from 66 countries having registered to take part. The 5 km mass start is on 11 October, followed by the 10 km, half marathon (21 km) and full marathon (42 km) on 12 October.

The 42 km course repeats last year's route, passing through central Sofia and its key historical and cultural landmarks. All finishers will receive a medal, with prize money ranging from 500 leva for tenth place to 6,000 leva for the marathon winners.

First held in 1983, the Sofia Marathon has a history spanning more than four decades.
