A joint research laboratory of LB Bulgaricum and the Japanese company Meiji will be opened in the first half of 2026. It will develop new products and study the benefits of traditional Bulgarian yogurt. This was announced after the Minister of Economy Petar Dilov and Katsunari Matsuda, CEO of Meiji Holdings Co. discussed the development of relations between LB Bulgaricum and Meiji.

The meeting in Tokyo at the corporation's headquarters was also attended by the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Japan Marieta Arabadjieva.

Matsuda pointed out that Meiji has been producing yogurt for the Japanese market for over 50 years under the name "Bulgarian yogurt", thereby popularizing the name of the country. 95% of Japanese people know Bulgarian yogurt, with over 20 million Japanese starting their day with Bulgarian yogurt, it became clear in the conversation. Meiji is the largest dairy producer in Japan, BTA recalls.
