Young Bulgarian artist Nikolas Stoichkov: Goodness is also a type of art

Nicholas is 15 years old. He is a self-taught artist, but his maturity in creativity and strength of spirit inspire admiration in everyone who has touched his talent. He is a person who fights internal battles and continues in moments when something does not work out. A creator who receives support from the most important people in his life - family and friends. And from teachers who remind him why he set out on this path. He draws to inspire and build the future with his own hands.

His journey into the world of art began when he was about 9 years old:

"Even then, after I finished my homework, I always took a sheet of paper and a pencil and started drawing. This was my way of expressing my art, my feelings and discovering the world in my own way," says the young artist.

His talent was noticed, and the "Razvitie – 1892" Community Center in the boy's hometown of Byala Slatina, northern Bulgaria, organized his first solo exhibition.

"This was the moment when I realized that art is not just a hobby, but my way forward. Inspiration for me is everywhere: in colours, in people, in animals, in the little things that we often pass by, it is that moment when you don't think, but simply feel. I love observing the world and turning my emotions into images. When I paint, I feel complete freedom. It's as if time stops and it's just me and the canvas," says Nicholas in a special interview for Radio Bulgaria, adding: "Talent is only the beginning. It's like a spark, but without hard work, perseverance and discipline, this spark can quickly go out. There is something very personal about art. You simply grow with it and every day you paint, make mistakes and try again, you are actually developing your talent. I believe that hard work turns talent into something real and alive."

Nikolas Stoichkov's paintings exude light and peace, and the amazingly skillful combination of colours, the bright and memorable images of his works are truly impressive. This is proven by the two exhibitions and the many positive comments on social networks. Some of his works are owned not only by collectors and organizations, but also by many donors, because Nikolas does not just pour his soul, feelings and thoughts onto the canvas - at only 4 years old, the boy emerged victorious in the most cruel battle with cancer, and today he himself helps others:

"I am fortunate to participate in various charitable initiatives, because I believe that goodness is also a type of art. The theme of animals is especially close to me, their purity and devotion always inspire me. At home, we take care of seven rescued puppies and one kitten, who are not just pets, but a real part of our family. They teach me love, patience and care every day, and often bring me inspiration in my work," says the young man.

How does Nikolas see his path from here onwards?

"I see it as a path of constant learning and development. I want to experiment, to discover new ways to express myself, through art mostly," he answers, advising young people: "If they have any talent, let them develop it and not give up on their dreams. Just let them keep moving forward!"
