‘The Bulgarian Rectors’ Council has proposed the creation of Danube University Alliances,’ said Professor Miglena Temelkova, the Council's chair, at the ‘Days of Bulgaria in Kecskemét, Hungary’ forum.

The idea is for the alliances to include two or more universities from countries through which the Danube flows, or from which its tributaries originate.

At the same event, the Bulgarian Rectors’ Council and the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference signed a cooperation agreement, according to a report by the state news agency BTA. Temelkova said that this agreement would strengthen the ties between Bulgarian and Hungarian universities within the broader European educational landscape.

She noted that universities in both countries already offer English-language programmes and promote their education products globally. These, she said, create opportunities for joint projects, as well as for student and faculty exchanges under various schemes. Temelkova added that she hoped the next bilateral university forum would take place in Sofia.
