In September, Bulgaria was mentioned as a country connected with dangerous food 7 times, indicate data of the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), BNR’s Vesselina Milanova reports. Over the same period this country has reported contaminated food 23 times.

The products which other countries referred to the RASFF last month are herbs and spices, meat, food preparations, tea and coffee. In 3 of the 7 cases the products were made in Bulgaria – they were designated as entailing a serious risk, as the case in point is of glass inside a protein bar, defective canned chicken and a chemical risk with herbs. In the other 4 cases the products were only in transit.

The reports submitted from Bulgaria mostly concern pesticides and pepper and tomatoes from Turkiye, as well as microtoxins in dried figs, roast pistachios and hazelnuts from Turkiye, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
