Read. For Real: Bulgaria marks Reading Day

Bulgaria celebrates National Reading Day on the third Friday of November. The Reading Foundation is leading the initiative under the motto: “Read. For Real”.

According to the OECD's PISA 2022 study, 53% of 15-year-old students in Bulgaria have difficulty comprehending what they read. The initiative aims to encourage not only reading, but also reading with comprehension.

This year's motto aligns with the message of European Authors' Day — 'Read.forReal' — which is being held across Europe at the same time. “We invite everyone to join with their own initiatives and show that reading is an experience that connects us—in Bulgaria and around the world,” the organizers said. Various events are planned in different locations across the country.
