Bulgarian and Chinese researchers discussed scientific cooperation at a forum in Sofia on Friday, attended by representatives of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), government officials, economists and public figures. Organised jointly by the BAS and the China Media Group, the event focused on innovative technologies and sustainable development models, including green energy, photovoltaic systems, and recent space research achievements.

Expanding cooperation between Bulgaria and China is becoming increasingly important, said Tsvetan Simeonov, chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Successful joint research projects by scientists from both countries were presented.

In the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov and Xiao Jie, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, seventeen cooperation agreements were signed in Sofia between non-governmental organisations, universities and associations from the two countries.
