Speaking at an informal meeting of EU leaders on Friday, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said that Bulgaria, as an EU member state and NATO ally, is ready to participate in efforts to find solutions for peace and security.

He said that Ukraine’s security was inextricably linked to Europe’s security. He welcomed the ongoing efforts by the United States and former President Donald Trump to secure a ceasefire and establish a just and lasting peace. He also stressed the importance of close coordination with the EU and Ukraine.

“The Ukrainian people must determine their own future. We must continue working with our partners in the US and Ukraine to ensure that any future peace agreement is properly implemented,” he said.
