On March 10 Bulgaria marks with various initiatives the 73rd anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews. The memory of the victims of the Holocaust was honored with a commemorative ceremony in front of the monument of Bulgarian politician Dimitar Peshev, who prevented the deportation of Bulgaria’s 48,000 Jews in 1943. Bulgarian Jews arrived from Israel to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust in front of Dimitar Peshev’s monument in Sofia. The celebrated Tsadikov Choir established 33 years ago in Bulgaria also attended the ceremony. The Ambassador of Israel to Bulgaria Irit Lillian also took part at the commemorative ceremony and reminded that 6 million Jews fell victims to the Holocaust.
