The vaccination against lumpy skin disease of all cattle in Bulgaria is expected to end within a week, the press office of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency announced. 240,000 vaccines will be used in Northern Bulgaria. The animals in South Bulgaria have been already vaccinated. The cattle acquire immunity 4 weeks after the vaccination. The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency advises the farmers to comply with all restrictions and regulations. Currently the free movement of cattle across Bulgaria is forbidden. The lumpy skin disease is not dangerous to humans, but is lethal to cattle and causes serious economic losses.
