A total of 816 illegal migrants have been detained on the territory of Bulgaria in the week from 11 to 18 August or 19 percent more than during the first week of the month, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry says. This means last week marked a record-high for the whole year. The greatest number of migrants detained seeking asylum in the countries of Europe come from Afghanistan, followed by Iraq and only then Syria. Compared to 2015 there is a drastic drop in the number of human traffickers detained. Whereas in August 2015 their number was 105, over the first 18 days of August 2016, the number is only 15.
