China shows interest in Bulgarian energy projects

Bulgarian Minister of Energy, Temenuzhka Petkova, has met with representatives of the China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), it was reported. The meeting was held at the initiative of the Chinese side and talks focused on potential cooperation in the sphere of nuclear energy. Minister Petkova has made the Chinese delegation acquainted with the views of the Bulgarian government regarding the possible construction of a new nuclear power plant in this country. This could happen in case a strategic investor was found and without providing state guarantees and long-term contracts for the purchase of energy produced. The Ministry of Energy has also provided information about the parameters of the "Belene" project, current infrastructure, permits and licenses, 3e-news.net has reported.
