New runners for the position of United Nations Secretary-General could emerge during the voting of the UN Security Council and if Bulgaria nominated Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva for the post, Moscow would discuss the candidacy. This is what Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told Interfax, commenting on information that instead of Irina Bokova, Bulgaria might nominate Georgieva. In the interview Gatilov said that some time ago Georgieva showed intentions to be a runner in the race for the top UN position and even had contacts with Russian diplomats on the subject, but later decided to keep her job in the European Commission, and Moscow was now yet to form its attitude with Bulgarian candidate being Irina Bokova.
