An approved bill that is to provide state aid for payment of debts of the Natsionalna Elektricheska Kompania EAD (NEK) is discussed today at first reading in the National Assembly. The draft envisages that the electricity company would receive money from the budget in order to pay its obligations to Russian company "Atomstroyexport" for produced equipment for the Belene nuclear power plant. The construction of the plant was cancelled in 2012 during the first Borissov Cabinet. The sum needed is not mentioned in the draft but according to PM Borissov, some 650 million euro would go in the direction of Russian companies. In order for NEK to receive the money the budget of the Ministry of Energy will be increased, it was reported.
