Bulgaria will participate with a frigate at NATO’s operation Sea Guardian in the Mediterranean Sea, Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Nikolay Nenchev announced in Brussels. NATO warships are to cooperate with the European mission Sophia in the central Mediterranean which combats smugglers of migrants who come from the Libyan shore. Minister Nenchev took part at the first meeting of the NATO countries’ defense ministers.  That decision has not been made yet, but Bulgaria will take part with one frigate, as it has done it until now, Minister Nenchev specified. Bulgarian military men will not join the rotation of the four NATO battalions at NATO’s eastern border with Russia, Nikolay Nenchev further said.
