Bulgaria’s Ombudsman Maya Manolova to submit to Parliament draft bill for single-member majoritarian electoral system in two rounds

On November 21 (Monday) Bulgaria’s Ombudsman Maya Manolova, members of the National Referendum 2016 initiative committee Toshko Yordanov and Ivo Siromahov and independent experts Valeri Naydenov, Mira Radeva and Boyan Atanasov are to submit to Bulgaria’s National Assembly a draft bill for a single-member majoritarian electoral system in two rounds. According to the draft bill, Bulgaria will be divided into 231 single-member electoral districts. Another 9 electoral districts will be launched abroad, the draft bill further envisages. Ombudsman Maya Manolova said that according to the new draft bill, Bulgarian citizens who reside for at least 6 months in a given electoral region will have the right to elect MPs
