Since the beginning of 2017, the total of 941 migrants have been seized at Bulgaria’s border with Serbia while trying to leave the country illegally and then continue their journey to Central and Western Europe, BGNES reports referring to Interior Ministry statistics. Unlike the pressure on the Bulgaria-Serbia border no pressure is seen on the border with Turkey. During the week only 39 migrants were detained there. This brings the number of detained illegal migrants in Bulgaria since the beginning of 2017 to 328 compared to 299 for the same period of last year. The trend continues of refugees and migrants leaving accommodation centers. Currently, refugee centers accommodate 3311 given their total capacity of house 5190. The migration centers of the Migration Directorate of the Interior Ministry accommodate 828 migrants given a total capacity of 940. 480 migrants have rented lodgings outside specialized centers.
