Most Bulgarian nationals chose to spend this weekend in Bulgaria, head of the Institute for Analyses and Estimates in Tourism Rumen Draganov told the Bulgarian National Radio on Friday. Over 50,000 people are expected to visit Shipka Mount and other historical monuments in Sofia, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo, Stara Zagora, Kazanlak, etc. Meanwhile, some Bulgarians decided to spend the long weekend in local ski resorts. In Rumen Draganov’s words, the accommodation capacity of the biggest ski resorts in Bulgaria has been filled. On Saturday, when Bulgaria celebrates Todorovden (Horse Easter) many people will attend traditional horse races. Over 200,000 Bulgarians have been using various tourist services this weekend. Nearly, 40,000 of them went on trips abroad and nearly 180,000 people are spending the weekend in Bulgaria, Rumen Draganov added. In his words, in 2017 the number of tourists visiting Bulgaria for summer holiday will be similar to the number of those who will arrive to that country on cultural tours.
