The 180th birth anniversary of Bulgaria’s Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski and the 135th anniversary since the establishment of first regional revolutionary committee in Bulgaria will be marked in the village of Golyam Izvor (Teteven Municipality) on Saturday. A village square bearing the name of Vasil Levski and a monument to his associate Doko Maevski will be unveiled in the village center. A festive programme will be held in front of the Vasil Levski house museum. In September 1872 Vasil Levski founded the first regional revolutionary committee in Bulgaria in Golyam Izvor. On December 12 the same year Levski wrote a letter to that district revolutionary committee saying: Time has come! The Bulgarians will not be slaves anymore. They will be free!
