Average alcohol consumption in Bulgaria amounts to 11.4 liters per capita

The World Health Organization published the results of a report regarding the global consumption of alcohol between 2008 and 2010. Its statistics is based on the legally sold alcohol quantities. The average alcohol consumption in Bulgaria during that period amounts to 11.4 liters per year per capita. Bulgarian men consume an average of 17.9 liters of alcohol per year, while women in that country consume much less-5.3 liters of alcohol per year. Since 2000 the Bulgarian citizens have been consuming more beverages with high alcohol content and less wine and beer. The average consumption of alcohol in Bulgaria per capita is expected to reach 12.1 liters in 2025. Highest consumption of alcohol per year per capita was registered in Lithuania-18.2 liters.
