The Border Police Directorate-General will from now on be able to investigate crimes within their competence on the entire territory of the country under amendments to the Ministry of the Interior Act, adopted at first reading.
According to the authors, the amendments are necessitated by the increased migratory pressure which has given rise to different cases such as transfer of the investigation from one regional directorate of the police to another, as the migrants are themselves transferred.
The amendments also provide clear regulations regarding the protection of interior ministry facilities, extend the powers of employed persons who will be able to work as security of facilities which are nor under the jurisdiction of the Interior Ministry. The left wing criticized the text with the motive that this will mean putting the interior ministry on the security companies market.
