Now is the right time to call for higher wages in order for people to have more reasons to stay in Bulgaria, President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB), Plamen Dimitrov, said in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio.

The trend of permanent emigration from Bulgaria continues and each year some 35 to 40 thousand people leave this country. The main reason is that they do not have enough money and cannot live a dignified life, Mr. Dimitrov said. He pointed out that this big problem should attract government's and employers’ attention.

No one would let Bulgaria in Schengen or the Eurozone waiting room with such salaries, the CITUB head added.
