EIB promises assistance for success of Bulgarian Presidency of EU Council

In Brussels Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has discussed with the President of the European Investment Bank /EIB/, Werner Hoyer, opportunities for co-operation on Western Balkans-EU connectivity projects.

PM Borissov recalled that the December meeting in Sofia with leaders of the Western Balkan countries, organized by the World Bank, ended with concrete financial commitments.Talks on the topic in London with the management of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development are yet to come.

Mr. Hoyer has vowed that the EIB would cooperate for the success of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and its priorities. Meanwhile, the EC Representation in Sofia announced that the Commission would allocate 471.5 million euros to Bulgaria from the EU Cohesion Funds for the renovation of the railway line between the towns of Elin Pelin and Kostenets. The section is part of the high-speed railway line connecting Sofia and Plovdiv along a corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
