The annual summit meetings between China and the Central and Eastern European countries "16+1" are useful to the EU as a whole, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva and dismissed concerns that Beijing wants to split the continent.
At a meeting in Argentina with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, Wang Yi said that the 16 + 1 format has a positive impact on economic development.
"The 16 + 1 cooperation and China-EU cooperation are not mutually exclusive. This is useful for the process of European integration," said Minister Wang Yi, quoted in a statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
