Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama awarded his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov a medal for his contribution to the European integration of the Western Balkans.
PM Borissov received the Medal of Gratitude – the highest distinction bestowed by the prime minister of Albania.
“We are one big European family. The Balkans are part of it and we have been making efforts, but the work of your political elite is crucial,” said PM Borissov. He pointed out that the sooner the countries of the Western Balkans advance and unite via digital and transport infrastructure, the sooner the region will forget war.
Bulgaria hopes to see Albania receive an invitation to open negotiations with the EU at the end of the month, Borissov said further.
