Sofia has been conferred the permanent title of European Capital of Sport, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova announced, citing a letter received from ACES Europe, a non-profit association based in Brussels which assigns every year since 2001 the recognitions of European Capital, City, Community and Town of Sport.
Mayor Fandakova made a review of the work accomplished as part of this initiative, and of the investments Sofia municipality has made towards the development of sports on the territory of the city. She also presented the sports events programme for 2019.
