Russia confirms readiness to participate in construction of Belene NPP

Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova met with Director General of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM Alexey Likhachev within the frameworks of the 16th meeting of the Bulgarian- Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Moscow. Minister Petkova and Alexey Likhachev discussed the useful cooperation between Bulgaria and Russia during the fulfillment of the programme aimed at extending the lifespan of the 5th and the 6th units of Kozloduy nuclear power plant. Minister Temenuzhka Petkova also met with Russia’s Minister of Energy Alexander Novak. Russia confirmed at the meeting its readiness to participate in the procedure for construction of the second Bulgarian nuclear power plant in Belene.
