An average of 68% of the young people in the EU aged between 16 and 29 live with their parents, data of Eurostat show. 73% of the young men and 63% of the young women in the European Union live with their parents. In Bulgaria over 60% of the young women and nearly 80% of the young men live with their parents. In Spain, Sweden and Malta the number of young men living with their parents is close to the number of women living under one roof with their parents. According to Eurostat, 24% of the young Bulgarians were in poverty risk in 2017. 21.2% of the EU citizens were in poverty risk last year.
