On the question of the Mobility Package, Bulgaria has the sympathy and full support from all countries of the periphery of Europe, said Minister of Transport Rosen Zhelyazkov in Strasbourg after a meeting with President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani.

Last week the European Parliament Committee on Transport and Tourism supported the proposal for the trucks carrying cargo in the EU to return to the country of registration of the owner company once every three weeks. The other two reports regarding international road haulage, connected with the rest and payment of the drivers, were rejected. The sitting of the committee was accompanied by protests by hauliers from Bulgaria and other countries, who disagree with the Mobility Package.

At his meeting with Tajani, Minister Zhelyazkov discussed three possible scenarios for the Mobility Package. The first is to submit for voting only the proposal endorsed by the committee. The second is to submit the whole package, notwithstanding the dossiers rejected. The third is to postpone the vote until after the elections for European Parliament. According to Rosen Zhelyazkov, the third option is most favourable for Bulgaria.
