Bulgaria starts negotiations with US for purchase of F-16

After intense debates, the Bulgarian parliament approved the opening of negotiations with the United States for the purchase of a new, multi-purpose aircraft F-16V Block 70. The decision was taken with the votes of the GERB ruling MPs, IMRO deputies and the opposition MRF. The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), "Volya" and NFSB.

On the basis of the US offer, the deal allows to deviate from the € 920 million originally planned for the purchase, as well as changing the delivery term and the method of payment. The Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and finance ministers will participate in the negotiating team.
