On Saturday afternoon, an act of vandalism took place against the Sofia Synagogue, as the windows of the temple were broken with stones. The Jewish community defined the act as a "hate crime" that happened on the day of Sabbath. No people were injured and glasses have already been replaced. A suspect has been detained by the police.

The Chief Mufti has condemned the act and called on state authorities to ensure safety in temples. Deputy Foreign Minister and national co-ordinator against anti-Semitism Georg Georgiev has also strongly condemned the act of vandalism.
