GERB sends 6 MEPs to new European Parliament, VMRO sends 2 MEPs

Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission announced the official results of the European elections held in this country. GERB party will send 6 MEPs to the new European Parliament, the Bulgarian Socialist Party sends, 5 MEPs, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms will have 3 MEPs in the EP, VMRO will send 2 MEPs and Democratic Bulgaria coalition will send 1 MEP to the European Parliament. Sergey Stanishev who was initially placed 5th in the election list of BSP advances to the second position due to the preferential voting. Andrey Slabakov who was placed fourth in the election list of VMRO advances to the second position and is the second MEP of this political party. Voter turnout was 32.64%. GERB earned 31.07% of the votes, BSP-24.26%, DPS-16.55%, VMRO-7.36% and Democratic Bulgaria-6.06%. Over 3% of the Bulgarians chose the option I do not support any of the parties.
