For countries with a high share of coal energy, such as Bulgaria, the transition to climate neutrality requires high levels of investment and social measures, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said at the 25th Climate Conference in Madrid. 46% of the Bulgarian electricity is generated from coal plants, and in winter this percentage reaches 60. But according to Eurostat, Bulgaria occupies the second place in the EU when it comes to reduction of carbon dioxide emissions for 2018, as in Bulgaria the reduction was 8.1%, Borisov said.
