Sofia’s authorities undertake measures to reduce air pollution

The buffer parking lots situated near the underground stations in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia will be free of charge on December 18, Sofia municipality announced after the forecast that on Wednesday the levels of fine particulate matter in Sofia will be way above the norms. Thus, Sofia Municipality wants to encourage the citizens to use the public transport. The local authorities call on the citizens to avoid using their private cars if possible. The households using solid fuels are advised to switch to alternative heating. Sofia Municipality continues to wash avenues and streets. Inspections of sources of pollution from construction, commercial and industrial sites continues.
