Sofia calls on UAE to extradite businessman Bozhkov

Today, the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice is expected to send to the UAE a request for extradition of businessman Vasil Bozhkov, who has been charged with leading a criminal group, extortion, attempted bribery of an official, incitement to criminal offenses, trading in influence, illegal appropriation of cultural and historical objects of value.

According to unconfirmed information, Bozhkov was released from the Abu Dhabi Detention Center on Sunday and is already in Dubai. Bulgarian Ambassador to Abu Dhabi has urgently asked authorities whether the information on the release of the businessman is correct, the Foreign Ministry has reported.
