EU Pharmaceutical Group backs president of Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union Asena Stoimenova

Asena Stoimenova

Responding to a BNR inquiry, officials from the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union said that the warnings made in interviews of the president of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union Asena Stoimenova about a possible shortage of drugs in a pandemic situation could not be considered as a "false alarm". The Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union was informed of the case by the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union. Stoimenova made these warnings in her interviews with the Bulgarian National Radio and the Bulgarian National Television. Because of them, she was charged by the prosecution with instilling fear and panic.

"The European Commission, the European Medicines Agency, the European pharmaceutical companies, the hospitals, our group and many others working in the healthcare sector have all highlighted the risk of a shortage of drugs due to the pandemic," the response said.
