The two leading trade unions in Bulgaria – the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Confederation of Labour Podkrepa – are demanding that Covid-19 be included in the ordinance on the protection of workers from risks connected to exposure to biological agents during work.

"This will mean they will be entitled to various benefits, " said CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov during the marking of World Day for Safety and Health and Work and Workers’ Memorial Day.

The trade unions are also demanding the introduction of a safety and health at work standard directly in the conditions connected with Covid-19.
