May 8 marks the 75th anniversary of the capitulation of the Third Reich and the end of the World War II. The United States and nine Eastern and Central European countries, including Bulgaria, have issued a joint declaration against Russia's attempt to "falsify" history

The foreign ministers of the countries say the Allied forces victory did not bring freedom to all of Europe. It is noted that Eastern European countries were illegally occupied and held in the iron grip of the USSR using military force, repression and ideological control.

The declaration also states that the misrepresentation of historical events that led to World War II and the division of Europe in the aftermath of the war constitute a regrettable effort to falsify history.
