In response to a series of allegations by businessman Vasil Bozhkov, Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov stated that no legislative amendments have been made to benefit Bozhkov’s gambling business.

Minister Goranov stressed that if there did exist any proof, it should be made public, and denied there being any tension between himself and PM Borissov over Vasil Bozhkov.

“But there is tension over the question of reducing some VAT rates,” the finance minister said, and specified that to reduce VAT erodes the tax system. In his words the prices will not go down for the public in Bulgaria, but the budget will definitely suffer a loss.
