Paper 2-lev banknote goes obsolete

Photo: library

Starting January 1, 2021, the paper two-lev bill will not be an official means of payment any more. The decision has been made by the BNB Governing Council, reporter Marta Mladenova informed. Banknotes from 1999 and 2005 are currently in circulation, but they are gradually being replaced by coins of the same denomination.

People will be able to exchange old banknotes without fees and quantity restrictions, the BNB has added.
