Restrictions for travelers from Bulgaria to Denmark and Austria
Given the rise of the number of people infected with Covid 19 in Bulgaria, Denmark has included this country in the category of “risk countries”. In order to enter Denmark, travelers from Bulgaria will need to present “respectable reasons”. Austria introduces measures for those arriving from 16 districts of Bulgaria, while previously measures used to be for those arriving from the country as a whole. These are the districts of Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Dobrich, Gabrovo, Yambol, Kardzhali, Montana, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Shumen, Sliven, Smolyan, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Targovishte and Varna. Those arriving from these areas must present a negative PCR test not older than 72 hours or remain under a 10-day quarantine. The quarantine can be interrupted with a negative PCR test on the spot within 48 hours, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
998 positive results after 7 442 PCR tests
The new cases of Covid-19 registered in the past 24 hours in Bulgaria are 998, or 13.41% of the 7,442 PCR tests performed. This is shown by data from the Unified Information Portal. Most new cases are in Sofia - 306, and Plovdiv - 107. Out of a total of 28,505 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country so far, 10,672 are active. There are 1450 patients in hospitals, 76 of them are in intensive care. During the past 24 hours, 14 people passed away and 197 recovered.
Bansko expects weak winter season
Fewer foreign tourists are expected to visit the ski resort of Bansko this winter season. There are almost no prepaid reservations and a British tour operator has announced that it is suspending charters from Great Britain to Bulgaria due to travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus, BNT reported. The tourist industry in the resort will rely on tourists from Bulgaria and neighboring Romania, Turkey and Greece. Some of the hotels in Bansko, which are owned by British, will not open. "We are talking about a 97% drop in British tourist reservations. I will change my business - we will open the restaurant and bar, but my hotel will stay closed," said British hotelier James Hughes.
