The Bulgarian Parliament is to adopt amendments to the Radio and Television Act at second reading today. The amendments introduce European directives to protect consumers and children from harmful online content. They regulate television advertising, the production and distribution of European works in video-on-demand services. Measures are also being introduced to clarify the actual media owners.

Presenting a study on media trust, Sofia Vladimirova, a member of the Electronic Media Council, said there was a lack of a modern and adequate legal framework for the media because the current law was 20 years old.
