The Bulgarian National Radio’s channels Horizont and Hristo Botev are celebrating their 50th anniversary today.
Horizont is celebrating the jubilee with new signature tunes, and Hristo Botev is planning a series of jubilee shows.
For five decades Horizont has been the undisputed leader in Bulgarian radio – with news on the hour, reporters and correspondents throughout the country and in the world, with topical commentary shows and a rich music library.
The start was given at 6 AM on 4 January, 1971, when announcer Bogomil Alexiev announced the launch of the new news, comment and music channel - Horizont.
Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev also congratulated the two channels. “Thanks to the two emblematic channels, the Bulgarian National Radio has established itself as a reliable source of information, upholding high professional standards in a dynamic environment”, Bulgaria’s head of state Radev pointed out.
