"Boyko Borissov was not concerned about the people and the journalists beaten at the protests, nor was he concerned about Emilian Gebrev's poisoning", said Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev in response to Premier Borissov's call to put forward a position on the detention of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

In his official position, President Radev notes that “the Bulgarian Prime Minister is famous in the European Parliament with the taped threat to "burn" MEP Elena Yoncheva. He is famous in the European press for sending people who seek asylum in Europe to Turkish prisons. Now he is acting as a promoter of democracy", President Radev's position reads.
